ANECDOTES AND CURIOSITIES
Roberto Fabián Ayala, the central mastiff who always inspired for his grit and competitive nastiness. 'El Piraña', leader of the defence in his 3 years at Napoli, would only score one goal, in the 96/97 season, when he put the partenopei ahead against Lazio, who then won 3-2 at home at the Olimpico. It was a disappointing season in some respects, remembering 13th place in the league, but full of hope until the end, which saw Napoli play in the Coppa Italia final against Vicenza, alas wasted in the return match in extra time, seeing the Veneti win 3-0.
