ANECDOTES AND CURIOSITIES
It was a Napoli that of the great Gigi Simoni that, by hook or by crook, brought it home, an airtight defence to protect the goal, when the joker did not arrive at the 90th minute. So that Napoli beat Buffon's Parma at Fuorigrotta, Signori's Lazio, eliminated the same Lazio in the Coppa Italia, an event in which they reached the final at the expense of Inter. It drew in Turin with Zidane's Juve thanks to a goal from the clumsy Aglietti. At Christmas, that working-class Napoli waved goodbye to the top of the table. Then, partly disagreements with Ferlaino over an agreement between Simoni and Moratti, and partly the team's obvious technical limitations, led to a very poor second half of the season and the President took the opportunity to prevent the coach from playing in the Coppa Italia final, replaced by Vincenzo Montefusco. Napoli's troubles were perhaps born that night, as Vicenza faced a very different team to the cocksure one of the coach from Emilia and took the Cup to Veneto.
